Resource Centre

The VWHC hosts many different free programs or services related to all aspects of women’s health, including a community clinic, yoga, acupuncture, Pilates, counselling and a wide range of workshops. Other resources include a non-lending library, listings of local support groups and health practitioners, information about community events and other resources.

Visit the space to learn more about what we offer. Our volunteers are “women helping women help themselves” and will guide you through our resources or refer you to other services that may best suit your needs.

Thanks to the diverse backgrounds of our volunteers, we do our best to accommodate support in different languages. Please note our volunteers are not professional interpreters. Professional interpretation services may be available during appointments with Nurse Practitioners (by request).

Workshops
Resource Library

The VWHC hosts at least one educational monthly workshop, as well as ‘feel-good events’ such as Beauty Night, bra-fitting, and photo portraits – all donated by local community organisations and businesses.

Past educational workshops include: mindfulness, pelvic floor, skin care, introduction to energy, menstrual health

VWHC has developed workshops on Women’s Rights in the Healthcare system (aka Patients’ Rights) and body image that are available on demand to community groups or other organizations.

The VWHC Women’s Health Resource Centre houses an extensive collection of books, reports and journals on all aspects of women’s health. This includes body image, abortion, complementary therapies, sexuality, violence against women, and social determinants of health.

Although we do not lend out material, women are invited to use our resources during our Women’s Health Resource Centre drop-in hours.

Computer and Internet Services
Primary care and wellness

Our resource centre is equipped with multiple computers with internet access, printers and a fax machine.

Our volunteers can assist with internet searches, document editing or layout, and printing.

The community clinic staffed with Nurse Practitioners is currently on hold due to COVID-19. Please be advised we are not a testing site and cannot provide some previously offered medical services at this time. If you are a patient of one of the nurse practitioners and wish to contact them, please reach out to BC Women’s Hospital.

VWHC is thrilled to have brought on students of Naturopathic Medicine from the Boucher Institute to offer Naturopathy services in the meantime. Ease the mind and body with acupuncture, dietary suggestions, and more with these skilled and friendly practitioners!

Are also offered for free throughout the week:

  • Acupuncture
  • Counselling
  • Yoga
  • Women’s Circle
